A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE CASEY HENRY UPON BEING SELECTED BELLSOUTH MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Casey Henry was selected as the BellSouth Male Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry has competed in the State Games of Mississippi the last three years, taking home five medals in Judo; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry has won the gold in his weight class the last two years; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry is a National Merit Scholarship recipient and is majoring in chemical engineering at Mississippi State University; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry works with young Judo students at the Starkville Martial Arts Academy; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry's positive attitude and sportsmanship are evident by his volunteer work with the Judo commissioner during the state games when he was not competing; and

WHEREAS, the BellSouth Athlete of the Year award honors the foremost male and female athlete of the year who represent the true spirit of competition; and

WHEREAS, Casey Henry was selected Male Athlete of the Year not only for his athletic accomplishments but also for his exemplary sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to commend the meritorious achievements of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That the Senate does hereby commend and congratulate Casey Henry for his athletic accomplishments and for being selected as the 1998 BellSouth Male Athlete of the Year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Casey Henry and his family.
